Making the decision to exit the military might be the second biggest choice you have ever had to make. The first was choosing to join the military at all. Through your transition process, you might receive information on how to land a job, apply for college and file a VA claim. However, there are several nuances to entering civilian life that these transition processes simply do not cover. They’re outdated and miss out on key ideas that can make or break your transition.

That is why the “1st Civ. Div. Field Guide” was created. It asks you those questions that the others miss, and encourages you to think about more than simply what your job will be once you make the transition out.

The guide was created through first hand knowledge by veterans just like you. Who after completing their service, entered the civilian world and found the transition process was missing something. The intent is to fill supplement the traditional transition services, and offer you an additional look at how to make the successful leap from a life on active duty to the life of a veteran.

you never went into a mission without intel, a field op without planning, or training without an objective. the transition to civilian life shouldn’t be any different.

This guide is designed specifically with you in mind. Because your journey into the civilian world is all about you. The decisions you make, the plan you create and the person you want to become all come down to you.

The intent is to have you think through the different aspects of life and how they might change, with the end goal of them changing for the better.
